Biography of Principals

Richard Nimphie began his leasing career over 38 years ago as an account executive with a vehicle fleet leasing company in Detroit.  In 1974 he formed a leasing division of an auto dealership in Toledo, Ohio, which grew to six offices nationwide, becoming one of the largest auto dealer-affiliated leasing companies in the country.  The company operated vehicles and equipment in 40 states before being sold to a large financial institution.   As operating partner of Lexus of Tampa Bay and Lexus of Clearwater, up to 70% of the new vehicle sales were leased under his ownership.

From there, Richard Nimphie formed Lease South, LLC with his son, Jonathan Nimphie, a graduate of Stetson University’s international business program and already a veteran of the mortgage business. Capitalizing on their vast experiences in the financial industry, this dynamic father-and-son team set out to assist businesses in the Tampa Bay Area and across the country with their vehicle and equipment acquisition needs.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Richard Nimphie was the president of The Ohio Car and Truck Rental and Leasing Association and The Toledo Auto Dealers Association, and was a member of the Lexus Dealer Council.  He currently serves on the boards of The ALS Association of Florida, The Krewe of Sant’Yago Education Foundation, and previously served on the boards of The Hillsborough Education Foundation and The Tampa Centre Club. Jonathan Nimphie currently serves on the Alumni Board of the Tampa Preparatory School.
